Customer Requirements
Overseas manufacturers of non-woven textile products were supplying almost 100% to the Australian market. Textor knew that by improving efficiencies and minimising downtime, it could be competitive with manufacturers from China and Taiwan.
Solution
Siemens automation technology and its SCADA real-time-monitoring systems allow Textor to supply local customers (such as Kimberley Clarke) without delay and with hugely reduced freight costs. The return on investment is on target and sets an Australian benchmark in non-woven textile manufacturing. The initiative has been a runaway success. Now, some everyday products such as kitchen wipes, first aid dressings and meat packaging no longer need to be imported. Textor has been able to supply local manufacturers with their raw materials at better prices than imports, providing a high-volume, low-margin business model. Textor is able to compete with the world’s most cost-efficient manufacturers, in a way that few would have believed possible.
