Siemens technologies are helping breweries in Australia and New Zealand to deliver some of the highest-quality beers in the world for upcoming Oktoberfest celebrations.
We have been offering Braumat Process Control System to the brewing industry since 1980. Over the years, Braumat has evolved into a robust, reliable system taking advantage of the innovations in technology. Today Braumat is synonymous with beer.
Globally, our brewery solutions account for €100 million a year, outpacing every other competitor in the industry worldwide. Siemens technologies provide significant water and energy-efficiency savings, whilst also enabling production flexibility – fundamental to delivering on the changing tastes and brand variety demanded by today’s astute beer consumer.
“Our technology guarantees the same high quality at all times while reducing the amount of water and energy consumed by up to 30 percent for every 100 liters of beer,” Mr Ashish Bhat, Siemens Executive Manager for Industrial Automation said.
“Process controls that guarantee this capability, and all literally at the push of a button, have become a real competitive advantage for breweries.”
Siemens is the control technology provider behind Lion Nathan’s new $250 million flagship Australasian site in Auckland, which is expected to reduce operating costs for the brewery by up to a staggering $15 million per year.
“The new operation will provide a number of productivity, customer responsiveness, environmental and employee advantages, including an expected NZD $12 to $15 million annual reduction in operating costs,” Lion Nathan Corporate Affairs Director Liz Read said.
“The current generation of energy efficient Siemens electric motors, which keep production moving from the mash house to bottling, save so much energy that their procurement costs are amortized after only a little over a year. In a stagnant market, savings in these areas generate clear competitive advantages,” Mr Bhat said.
In Australia and New Zealand, Siemens technologies also ensure the flow of beer at Independent Liquor in Auckland, Tooheys and Malt Shovel breweries in Sydney, Bluetongue Brewery in Newcastle, Little Creatures micro-breweries in Fremantle and Healesville, Swan brewery in Perth, Castlemaine XXXX brewery in Brisbane, Coopers brewery in Adelaide and Independent Distillers in Melbourne.
