Siemens employees in Australia and New Zealand (Siemens Ltd) have rallied behind Victorians, raising an outstanding $101,552 in total, with donations matched by the company, to support the Australian Red Cross Bushfire Appeal.
Siemens Ltd. Head of Communications Herna van Reenen said the generousity of employees had been inspiring. “Within 24 hours of opening up the internal appeal, we had received a staggering $10,250 in pledges from employees making salary deductions, credit card and cheque donations. Within 48 hours, this tally had doubled, and by the end of the second week, we had received $50,776 in employee donations from our team across Australia and New Zealand. The response from employees has been absolutely wonderful, and we are extremely proud to match their contributions dollar for dollar, taking our Siemens Ltd donation to $101, 552,” said Ms. van Reenen.
“Employees have also made significant non-cash donations of goods requested by St Vincent de Paul for provision to those who have lost their homes and belongings, such as clothing, manchester and non-perishable food items.
“In partnership with our logistics provider, Schenker Australia Pty Ltd, these goods were delivered directly to the St Vinnies distribution warehouse in Rowville, Victoria. We are very grateful for the in-kind support of Schenker Australia Pty Ltd in achieving this, and pleased to be able to relieve some of the demand St Vinnies is currently experiencing for collection of donated goods.”
