Siemens and its solution partner LogiCamms have been awarded a significant contract to support South Australia’s pilot desalination plant at Port Stanvac in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. This marks an important first step for the $1.1 billion Adelaide Desalination Project.
Siemens competed with other major players in the industry and has successfully secured the supply for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), panel PCs, Simocode, motor switchgear, drives and level sensors to ensure a successful and timely completion of the pilot plant.
Siemens Regional Sales Manager Industrial Automation & Control, Philip Link, said Siemens was chosen because its solution ensures a faster build of the project to meet the short project timelines through each phase of the project - engineering, construction and commissioning.
“This represents an important project for Siemens to demonstrate its leadership in engineering and technology-based solutions for water treatment and plant automation,” Mr Link said.
The pilot plant is scheduled for completion by the end of July 2008.
