Siemens showcases radiology department of the future

Melbourne, 21 October 2009

Experience the latest healthcare technologies while on show at this year’s Combined Scientific Meeting, the largest ever of its kind in Australia, to be held at the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre from 22 to 25 October.

Siemens will showcase its latest technologies for a radiology department of the future, encompassing the most advanced innovations for medical imaging and increased workflow efficiency.

Siemens Vice President of Healthcare Mr Richard Guest described some of the world-leading healthcare technologies being showcased at the conference. “Siemens healthcare innovations provide superior imaging and workflow efficiency to improve the overall quality of healthcare for Australia and New Zealand,” he said.

Our range of computed tomography (CT) scanners includes the SOMATOM Definition AS, world’s first adaptive CT scanner, and the SOMATOM Definition Flash, which scans at phenomenal speed and has minimal radiation dose.

“The Siemens Magnetic Resonance (MRI) scanners have set the standard in image quality with Tim, our Total Imaging Matrix technology. We also offer the only 70 centimetre wide bore MRI scanners available on the market, improving the accessibility of MRI scanning to claustrophobic and obese patients, as well as patients with mobility impairments.”

Siemens’ ultrasound machines, the ACUSON S2000 and the ACUSON X300 take ultrasound to a new dimension.

The ACUSON X300 provides a broad range of solutions from comprehensive cardiology and general imaging to obstetrics and gynaecological applications, including advanced 4D volumetric imaging,” Mr Guest said.

“The ACUSON S2000 capitalises on our expertise in acoustics to provide superior image quality, knowledge based workflow and adaptive ergonomics.”

Siemens MaxTouch of Ysio, the interactive, colour touchscreen user interface that ensures easy access to key parameters during X-ray examinations will also be on display.  Innovations for angiography, fluoroscopy and radiography, including hybrid suites will also be showcased during this conference.

Discover how you can make the most out of your day with Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). These digital systems facilitate monitoring and information sharing across departments which result in time and cost savings.

Experience the radiology department of the future by visiting Siemens at stand 49. Conference delegates also have the opportunity to win a Red Balloon Day experience valued at $350 when they enter into the Siemens competition on the stand.

The 2009 Combined Scientific Meeting is organised jointly by the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), the Australian Institute of Radiology (AIR), the Faculty of Radiation Oncology (FRO), and the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers (ACPSEM).
